About The Foundation

For over ten years, the John G. Chipura Foundation has been committed to following in the footsteps of John — bringing people together and helping those in need. In memory of Chip, the Foundation’s goal is to continue making a difference in the lives of the men and women who serve their communities and country. Its mission is to help the members and families of the Boy Scouts of America, U.S. Military, New York City Police Department, and Fire Department of New York who are in need.

After September 11, 2001, Chip’s job partners, family, and friends came together in remembrance of him. To support the causes that were dear to John, they started an annual golf outing. The first was held in 2003 and was a huge success, both in raising money and in the tremendous camaraderie enjoyed while gathering to remember John.

The golf outing has been held in Staten Island every September since, attended by more than 200 supporters — including Wounded Warriors who play as part of their rehabilitation. To truly honor Chip, the foundation also runs events built around doing good deeds: an annual blood drive in John’s honor with the New York Blood Center, and college funding for Eagle Scouts who apply.
